Services

We provide the highest quality, evidence-based counseling services to individuals, couples, and families with an emphasis on meeting the client’s needs first and foremost.

We offer a range of therapies from counselors who pursue certification and expertise

We also stress innovation at PCS, because we can do better! It is this attitude of innovation that brought the first full protocol DBT program to the region, which remains the only full protocol program in the area.

The same innovation spurred our full protocol PCIT program and the development of The Hope Institute.

DBT is a mindfulness-based therapy

DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy)

DBT is a mindfulness-based therapy that provides clients with skills in regulating their emotions, tolerating stress and distress, maintaining healthy relationships, and thinking from perspectives other than their own.

We were the first and are still the only full protocol DBT facility in the region. Clients seeking DBT at our practice have access to individual sessions, skills sessions (available in traditional group format, but also family and individual formats to promote best practices and accessibility for all), and phone coaching.

Our DBT program is also available in-person or via telehealth, as we know how limited DBT is as a resource and want it to be accessible to as many as possible. We currently have four group skills sessions running: two for adolescents and two for adults.

PCS is home to a DBT team with several counselors who are certified and collaborate not only with each other, but with facilities and experts across the country. DBT is one of the most researched models of therapy and holds one of the strongest evidence bases in mental health.

CAMS is first and foremost

CAMS (Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality)

CAMS is first and foremost a clinical philosophy of care, and CAMS is part of our standard training at PCS. It is a therapeutic framework for suicide-specific assessment and treatment of a patient’s suicidal risk.

It is a flexible approach that can be used across theoretical orientations and disciplines for a wide range of suicidal patients across treatment settings and different treatment modalities.
PCS holds the honor and distinction of being the first CAMS-approved facility, and CAMS is one of only four treatments recognized by The Joint Commission and SAMHSA as evidence-based. One of our clinicians is also the first ever CAMS Certified clinician!

PCIT is an evidence-based treatment for young children

PCIT (Parent-Child Interaction Therapy)

PCIT is an evidence-based treatment for young children who are experiencing behavioral problems. In its first phase, PCIT helps to build rapport in the parent-child relationship that helps the child feel calm and secure in the relationships with their parents and good about themselves. In the second phase of treatment, parents are equipped with the tools to help manage their child’s most challenging behaviors. Contact us to learn more about PCIT!

RO DBT targets a spectrum of difficulties

Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO DBT)

RO DBT targets a spectrum of difficulties that are characterized by excessive self-control, which can be referred to as overcontrol.

PCS has a growing team of clinicians trained in RO DBT to help clients learn skills in becoming more receptive and open, gain flexibility, and improve social connections with others.

To support individual RO DBT therapy we currently have two skills classes available, an evening and a daytime option. Visit Radicallyopen.net for additional information on RO DBT. (We are not currently accepting new RO DBT clients.)

EMDR is effective in relieving the stress

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

EMDR is effective in relieving the stress associated with traumatic memories and negative beliefs. This is done by using bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or tapping, that can replicate the process that occurs during the Rapid Eye Movement phase of sleep. PCS is home to a number of therapists trained in EMDR.

For some individuals, talk therapy alone

Yes, we accept most insurances common to our area.  We are currently in-network providers for many of the common insurance companies in the area.  It is also important to understand that even if you are insured through another network, you may be able to use our services as an out-of-network provider. The cost structure may be similar or very different to your in-network providers. Please contact your insurance company for an understanding of your benefits. We will provide assistance in understanding these benefits, as this can be a very difficult and intimidating process.

Not long ago that was a simple answer, children and their families. That is still a cornerstone of the work we do, but we have expanded to helping adults and have counselors who are certified in a range of therapies that include DBT, PCIT, and RO DBT. This expansion is the result of additional counselors working within our practice, which means more options and better care for our clients.  Our goal is to meet your needs, which means that we will either match you with the right therapist or make an appropriate referral.

When you call us, we’re going to ask you some basic questions to better serve your needs.  We will typically ask about your reason for calling, your insurance provider, and contact information.

YES, we regularly run groups.  By regularly, we have four DBT groups running currently, two for adolescents and two for adults. We have had continuous DBT groups for a decade now! More groups and different groups are offered by demand. Some groups that we frequently run include bullying, self-esteem, anger management, and grief/loss. Many of the groups were developed specifically for children and adolescents and have been very effective. Please call if you are interested or have any questions!
